3-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    25 minutes (7.6 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, explore the ancient Edakkal Caves that are famous for their pre-historic carvings dating back to the Neolithic Age. These two natural caves are nestled on Ambukuthi Mala hill and require a short trek. In the afternoon, head to Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy boating and birdwatching before heading to the Chembra Peak to catch stunning sunset views. In the evening, grab some local snacks from the nearby stalls before heading back to Kalpetta.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 15 minutes (22.1 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your second day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Spend your morning enjoying boating, trekking, and zip-lining activities around the dam. Take a morning jeep safari to explore the sanctuary and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery. In the afternoon, head to the Kuruvadweep, a group of small islands on the Kabini River and enjoy a relaxing bamboo rafting session. In the evening, head back to Kalpetta and visit the local markets and shops to buy some souvenirs.
