3-Day Adventure Itinerary for Coorg in July 2024

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, we will visit the Abbey Falls, which is a stunning waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and coffee plantations. You can take a short trek through the plantations to reach the falls. After enjoying the waterfall's beauty, we will move to Raja's Seat in the afternoon, which is a garden with a mesmerizing view of the valley. You can also visit the nearby Omkareshwara Temple. In the evening, we will explore Madikeri's local market, where you can shop for souvenirs and try some local snacks.

  2. Day 2: Tadiandamol Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (31 miles) from Madikeri

    For the second day, we will start early and drive to the Tadiandamol Peak, the highest peak in Coorg. You can enjoy a thrilling trek through the lush green forests to reach the summit. The trek takes around 4-5 hours, depending on your speed. After reaching the summit, you can enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, we will visit the Nalknad Palace, which is an ancient palace that dates back to the 18th century. In the evening, we will head back to Madikeri and visit a local restaurant to try some delicious Coorgi cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour (18.5 miles) from Madikeri

    On the last day, we will visit the Dubare Elephant Camp in the morning, which is a unique experience where you can interact with the elephants, feed them and even take a ride on them. After spending time with these majestic creatures, we will move to the Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe, which is the largest Tibetan settlement in India. You can explore the monastery, see the statues and murals, and watch the monks in prayer. In the evening, we will head back to Madikeri and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee at a local cafe.

If you're interested in adventure activities, you can also try river rafting in Barapole River, which is famous for its rapids. You can also visit the Chelavara Falls, which is a beautiful waterfall located in the middle of the forest. For a side trip, you can visit the nearby town of Kushalnagar, which has a beautiful temple and a wildlife sanctuary. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and a raincoat since it might rain in July.
