3-Day Wayanad Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (7.7 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the Edakkal Caves, which is a popular tourist destination in Wayanad. The caves are situated on Ambukutty Mala and offer a great archaeological experience. The climb up to the caves is approximately 1 km and can be a bit strenuous. The caves have carvings dating back to the Neolithic age and provide a fascinating glimpse into India's prehistoric past. In the afternoon, visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum, which has a collection of artefacts that showcase the region's history and culture. In the evening, take a walk around the Pookode Lake, which is a serene and tranquil spot surrounded by verdant hills.

  2. Day 2: Explore Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour (22.4 miles) from Kalpetta

    Spend the morning at the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India and a popular tourist spot in Wayanad. The dam is surrounded by lush greenery, and the view from the top is breathtaking. You can also take a boat ride on the reservoir. In the afternoon, visit the Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek up to the peak is approximately 5 km, and it takes around four hours to complete.
