Exploring Wayanad in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Banasura Sagar Dam
    30 minutes (15.5 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your trip with the magnificent Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the dam's serene backwaters.   2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves

    Visit the prehistoric Edakkal Caves, known for its ancient rock carvings dating back to 6000 BC. Trekking to the cave is an adventure in itself, giving you a chance to enjoy the scenic view of the Ambukuthi Hills.   3. Day 3: Chembra Peak

  4. Day 4: Thirunelli Temple

    Visit the ancient Thirunelli Temple, which is located amidst the Brahmagiri Hills. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and is believed to have been built by Lord Brahma himself. After the visit, you can trek to the nearby Brahmagiri Peak and enjoy the serene beauty of the surrounding nature. On your way back, visit the Kuruva Island and enjoy a unique experience of trekking and bamboo rafting.

  5. Day 5: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    45 minutes (19 km) from Thirunelli Temple

    End your trip with a visit to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna. Enjoy a guided safari through the sanctuary and get a chance to spot elephants, tigers, leopards, and various species of birds. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Chain Tree and learn about the legend behind it. End your trip with a delicious traditional Kerala meal at a nearby restaurant.

You can also plan a day trip to the nearby town of Vythiri, known for its beautiful resorts and coffee plantations.
