3-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
5 minutes (0.3 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

In the morning, visit the revered Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Located at an altitude of 3,583 meters, the temple is a marvel of ancient architecture. The temple opens at 6 AM, so make sure to reach early to avoid the crowd. Spend your afternoon exploring the scenic Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to rare Himalayan species such as snow leopards and musk deer. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around the town and savor some local delicacies such as Kachmauli and Bal Mithai.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
1 hour and 30 minutes (6.8 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

Embark on an early morning trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by majestic peaks. The trek takes about 6-7 hours, and it's highly recommended to hire a local guide. After reaching the lake, enjoy a picnic and soak in the serene beauty of the place. On your way back, visit the Bhairav Temple and witness the evening aarti at the Kedarnath Temple.

  3. Day 3: Triyuginarayan Temple
1 hour and 20 minutes (16.9 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

Drive to Triyuginarayan Temple, which is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. The temple is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. After visiting the temple, head to the Gaurikund hot springs for a rejuvenating bath. You can also indulge in some shopping in the local market before heading back.
