Coorg Family-Friendly 4-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    30 minutes (9.6 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Enjoy a scenic drive to Abbey Falls. Take a short hike through the lush green forest to reach the waterfall. The gushing sound of the waterfall and the cool mist will rejuvenate you. Capture the beauty of the waterfall through your lens.

    Afternoon: Head to Madikeri Fort, an ancient fort which has stood the test of time. Learn about its history and enjoy the scenic views of the town from the fort.

    Evening: Visit the Raja's Seat, a garden filled with colourful flowers. Watch the beautiful sunset from here and enjoy the musical fountain show.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 15 minutes (42 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Experience the thrill of being up close and personal with elephants at Dubare Elephant Camp. Participate in activities such as bathing and feeding the elephants and enjoy a ride on their back.

    Afternoon: Visit the Nisargadhama Forest, a beautiful island surrounded by the Cauvery river. Enjoy a peaceful walk amidst the bamboo groves and watch the deer grazing.

    Evening: Head back to Madikeri and enjoy some local delicacies at one of the many restaurants in the town.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 15 minutes (43 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Start your day by visiting Talacauvery, the source of the River Cauvery. Take a dip in the holy waters and visit the temple dedicated to Lord Brahma.

    Afternoon: Next, head to Bhagamandala, where the Cauvery river meets the Kannika and the Sujyothi rivers. Visit the Bhagandeshwara Temple and learn about its history.

    Evening: Enjoy the stunning views of the sunset from Mandalpatti, a beautiful viewpoint. The drive to Mandalpatti is a bit bumpy, but the view is worth the effort.

  4. Day 4: Coorg Wildlife Society
    1 hour 30 minutes (46 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Visit the Coorg Wildlife Society, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals. Learn about the various animals and birds found in the region and the efforts taken towards conservation.

    Afternoon: Visit the Chiklihole Reservoir, a beautiful lake surrounded by hills and forests. Enjoy a picnic by the lake or take a boat ride.

    Evening: Head back to Madikeri and indulge in some shopping. Buy some local spices, coffee, and honey.
