Discovering Kodaikanal: 2-Day Nature Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Coaker's Walk
10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

Coaker's Walk is a beautiful paved pedestrian path offering panoramic views of the hills, valleys, and the town below. Start your morning walk on this path and get a chance to see the beautiful sunrise. The walk is surrounded by lush forests and is a great spot for bird-watching. In the afternoon, head to the Kodaikanal Lake, an artificial lake surrounded by misty mountains and dense forests. Here, you can enjoy boating or simply relax on the banks. In the evening, visit Bryant Park, a botanical garden with about 325 species of trees, shrubs, and cacti. The park also has a glasshouse that displays a variety of flowers and plants.

  2. Day 2: Pillar Rocks
30 minutes (8.9 miles) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

Begin your day by visiting the Pillar Rocks, a set of three giant rock pillars standing at a height of about 400 feet. You can enjoy the breathtaking view of the serene landscape and the Vaigai Dam from here. After that, head to the Guna Caves, a mystical cave that has been the shooting location for many Indian movies. The cave has narrow passages and irregular crevices that add to its charm. In the afternoon, visit the Bear Shola Falls, a cascading waterfall surrounded by dense forests and rocks. Legend has it that bears used to come here to drink water, hence the name. You can take a dip in the cool waters and enjoy the scenic beauty around. In the evening, visit the Kurinji Andavar Temple, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. The temple is surrounded by lush green hills and offers a breathtaking view of the Palani Hills.
