3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple which is one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism. It is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters and can be reached by a trek of 16 km from Gaurikund. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearby Gandhi Sarovar and Vasuki Tal. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at the temple which is a mesmerizing experience.

  2. Day 2: Sonprayag and Triyuginarayan Temple
    1 hour 20 minutes (32.9 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    On day 2, visit Sonprayag which is a scenic spot situated at the confluence of two holy rivers - Basuki and Mandakini. From there, drive to Triyuginarayan Temple which is located in Triyuginarayan village. It is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married. Spend the evening at the temple and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

  3. Day 3: Chopta and Tungnath Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (37.9 km) from Triyuginarayan Temple

    On the final day, visit Chopta which is also known as the 'Mini Switzerland' of India. It is a popular destination for trekking and camping. From there, trek to Tungnath Temple which is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. The trek is 3.5 km long and is relatively easy. Spend the evening soaking in the beautiful views of the Himalayas from the temple.
