5-Day Nature Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (2.9 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    The morning will be spent visiting the Kedarnath Temple, one of the most sacred temples for Hindus. Afternoon could be spent exploring nearby places such as Gandhi Sarovar and Vasuki Tal. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at the temple.

  2. Day 2: Chorabari Tal and Deoria Tal
    1 hour 17 minutes (28.4 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Start the day early to visit Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar, a high altitude lake surrounded by breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Afterwards, head to Deoria Tal, another serene lake that offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Spend the evening stargazing by the lake.

  3. Day 3: Gaurikund and Kedar Valley Trek
    1 hour 10 minutes (20.5 km) from Deoria Tal

    Drive to Gaurikund, the starting point of the Kedar Valley trek. The trek will take you through stunning landscapes, including dense forests, meadows, and waterfalls, and eventually lead you to Kedarnath. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the scenic views.

  4. Day 4: Vasuki Tal and Shankaracharya Samadhi
    1 hour 45 minutes (10.5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Trek to Vasuki Tal, another high altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Afternoon could be spent visiting the Shankaracharya Samadhi, a shrine dedicated to the great philosopher and saint Adi Shankaracharya. Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

  5. Day 5: Sonprayag and Triyuginarayan Temple
    50 minutes (21.8 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    Visit Sonprayag, a picturesque town on the banks of Basuki Ganga. Afternoon could be spent visiting the Triyuginarayan Temple, which has an interesting legend associated with it. In the evening, you could relax in the hot water springs nearby.

Recommendations

Make sure to carry warm clothes as the temperature drops considerably at higher altitudes. Do carry a raincoat or a poncho as it can rain at any time. You could also consider visiting the nearby town of Guptkashi or trekking to the beautiful Kedartal.
