Kedarnath 4-Day Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    Morning: Start your day early with a visit to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the Hindus. The temple is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters and is surrounded by the majestic Himalayas. The temple opens at 4 am, so make sure to get there early to avoid the crowds. After darshan, enjoy a cup of tea and some breakfast at the nearby stalls.
    Afternoon: After lunch, trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The trek is 6 km from Kedarnath Temple and takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Enjoy the scenic views and take a dip in the icy cold waters of the lake. Return to Kedarnath Temple by evening.
    Evening: Attend the evening aarti at the Kedarnath Temple, performed at 7 pm. The aarti is a beautiful sight to behold and is a must-see for anyone visiting Kedarnath.
  2. Day 2: Gandhi Sarovar

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag

    Morning: Take a taxi to Sonprayag, a scenic town located at the confluence of the Mandakini and Basuki rivers. The drive from Kedarnath to Sonprayag is approximately 1 hour. Explore the town and visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
    Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Gaurikund Temple, located 5 km from Sonprayag. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and is a popular pilgrimage site. Take a dip in the hot springs located near the temple.
    Evening: Return to Kedarnath Temple by evening and attend the evening aarti.
  4. Day 4: Chorabari Tal
    Located 4 km (1 hour trek) from Kedarnath Temple
    Morning: Start your trek to Chorabari Tal early in the morning. The trek is 4 km from Kedarnath Temple and takes approximately 1 hour to complete. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and is a beautiful sight to behold. You can also try some fishing in the lake.
    Afternoon: Return to Kedarnath Temple by afternoon and have your lunch. Spend the rest of the day exploring the town and trying some local delicacies.
