Ooty Nature Tour - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Avalanche Lake
    30 minutes (13.2 km) from Ooty

    In the morning, we'll head to the stunning Avalanche Lake, nestled amidst a mesmerizing landscape. You can enjoy a peaceful walk along the lake, take a boat ride or trek on one of the many trails around the lake. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Emerald Dam, a beautiful place to relax and soak in nature. In the evening, we'll visit the Government Botanical Garden, home to thousands of exotic plants and flowers, including a fossil tree that is believed to be over 20 million years old.

  2. Day 2: Mudumalai National Park
    1 hour 45 minutes (49.6 km) from Ooty

    Today, we'll explore the Mudumalai National Park, one of the best places to see wildlife in the region. You can take a jeep safari to spot tigers, leopards, elephants, and many other animals in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Pykara Waterfall, a scenic spot where you can enjoy a picnic and take a dip in the refreshing water. In the evening, we'll head to the Doddabetta Peak, the highest mountain in the Nilgiris range, for a stunning sunset view.

  3. Day 3: Ooty Lake
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Ooty

    Our final day will be spent at the Ooty Lake, where you can go boating, fishing, or horse riding. In the morning, we'll take a leisurely stroll around the lake and enjoy the serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Thread Garden, a unique attraction that displays over 150 flower models made out of thread. In the evening, we'll head to the St. Stephen's Church, a beautiful colonial-era church that boasts of stunning architecture.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Sim's Park in Coonoor, a well-maintained park that is home to many species of plants and flowers, or the Mukurthi National Park, a lesser-known park that is perfect for trekking and bird watching. For a side trip, you can head to the nearby town of Kotagiri, known for its tea plantations and scenic views. To make the most of your trip, try to avoid the peak season from April to June and plan your visit during the weekdays to avoid the crowds.
