4-Day Wayanad Itinerary for August 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (11.7 km) from Kalpetta

    Explore the ancient Edakkal Caves, known for their fascinating prehistoric rock carvings. Start your morning early to avoid crowds and heat. Take a 10-15 minute walk to reach the caves’ entrance. Spend your afternoon at the nearby Soochipara Waterfalls, where you can trek, swim, and enjoy a picnic. In the evening, head back to Kalpetta for local delicacies at Hotel Udupi.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 15 minutes (45.9 km) from Kalpetta

    Visit the beautiful Banasura Sagar Dam, India’s largest earthen dam, early in the morning. Go on a trek to the nearby Banasura Hill, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Meenmutty Waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing swim.   4. Day 4: Chembra Peak
    1 hour (20.8 km) from Kalpetta

    Hike to the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, early in the morning for breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The hike takes around 3-4 hours, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Karapuzha Dam.
