Family-Friendly Itinerary for Dwarka and Somnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dwarka
    Starting Point: Somnath (4 hours 15 minutes)

    Morning: Visit the Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, which is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple is beautifully designed with intricate carvings and is one of the Chardham pilgrimages.
    Afternoon: Head to Bet Dwarka, an island located a few kilometers from the mainland. Take a boat ride to reach the island and visit the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, which is believed to be the first Jyotirlinga.
    Evening: Watch the sunset at Dwarka Beach and enjoy some local street food at the nearby stalls.

  2. Day 2: Somnath
    Starting Point: Dwarka (4 hours)

    Morning: Visit the Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India and a famous pilgrimage site. Explore the temple complex and attend the morning aarti (prayer) for a spiritual experience.
    Afternoon: Head to the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of three rivers - Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati. Take a dip in the holy water and perform some rituals.
    Evening: Witness the Sound and Light Show at Somnath Temple, which narrates the history of the temple and its significance.

  3. Day 3: Somnath and nearby attractions
    Starting Point: Somnath

    Morning: Visit the Bhalka Tirtha, a sacred site where Lord Krishna was mistakenly shot by an arrow and left his mortal body. It's a peaceful place with beautiful gardens and a temple.
    Afternoon: Explore the Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to Asiatic lions, leopards, and many other animals and birds.
    Evening: Visit the Junagadh Fort and explore the Uparkot Fort, which is an ancient fort built around 300 BCE. It's a great place to witness the beautiful sunset and the panoramic views of the city.

If you're interested in history and architecture, you can also visit the Rukmini Devi Temple, Gita Mandir, and the Dwarka Lighthouse.
