Sikkim in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    35 minutes (18.6 km) from Pakyong Airport

    In the morning, visit the famous Rumtek Monastery which is the largest monastery in Sikkim. From there, head to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to learn about Tibetan culture and history. In the afternoon, visit the Tsomgo Lake which is a glacial lake located at an altitude of 12,400 ft. End the day by exploring the local markets of Gangtok.

  2. Day 2: Pelling
    3 hours 45 minutes (117.6 km) from Gangtok

    Start the morning by visiting the Pemayangtse Monastery which is one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in Sikkim. From there, explore the Rabdentse Ruins which is a former capital of the kingdom of Sikkim. In the afternoon, visit the Khecheopalri Lake which is a sacred lake for both Buddhists and Hindus. End the day by watching the sunset at the Singshore Bridge which is the highest bridge in Sikkim.

  3. Day 3: Yuksom
    1 hour 45 minutes (41.4 km) from Pelling

    Start the morning by hiking to the Dubdi Monastery which is the oldest monastery in Sikkim. From there, visit the Norbugang Park which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and waterfalls. In the afternoon, visit the Tashiding Monastery which is one of the most sacred monasteries in Sikkim. End the day by exploring the Coronation Throne which is an important historical site in Sikkim.

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Yumthang Valley which is also known as the valley of flowers. For adventure enthusiasts, the Goecha La trek is a great option. To maximize your fun, try the local Sikkimese cuisine and indulge in some shopping at the local markets. Do not forget to carry warm clothes as the temperature can drop in the evenings.
