5-Day Itinerary for Sikkim

  1. Day 1: Tsomgo Lake
    40 minutes (17.6 km) from Gangtok

    Start your morning early, and head to Tsomgo Lake, a glacial lake situated 12,400 ft above sea level. You can take a yak ride and view the frozen lake that changes colors throughout the day. In the afternoon, visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a temple dedicated to an Indian soldier, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Nathula Pass. In the evening, return to Gangtok and explore the MG Road, a vibrant street with excellent local cuisine and shopping options.

  2. Day 2: Rumtek Monastery
    30 minutes (20.1 km) from Gangtok

    Visit the Rumtek Monastery, located on a hill facing Gangtok. The monastery is a fascinating destination for tourists and is home to several rare art treasures and ancient manuscripts. In the afternoon, drive to the Banjhakri Falls, a natural waterfall, and a park that has been developed around it. Spend the evening exploring the Tashi View Point, which offers a stunning view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range.

  3. Day 3: Pelling
    107 kilometres from Gangtok

    Start your day early and head to Pelling, a beautiful town surrounded by snow-clad mountains and forests. Visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, a three-storied building that dates back to the 17th century, and is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. In the afternoon, visit the Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred lake in Sikkim, and then head to the Rabdentse Ruins, a fascinating archaeological site located in the Pelling district. In the evening, return to your hotel and enjoy the local cuisine.

  4. Day 4: Namchi

    Visit the Namchi Monastery, a beautiful and peaceful place, situated on a hill. The monastery is an excellent place to explore Sikkim's rich culture and history. In the afternoon, head to the Samdruptse Hill, where you can see the world's tallest statue of the Guru Padmasambhava. Spend the evening exploring the Char Dham, a complex of four major pilgrimage sites and a significant tourist attraction in Sikkim.

  5. Day 5: Gangtok
    101 km (4 h) from Namchi

    Spend your last day in Gangtok exploring the Enchey Monastery, a beautiful and serene place that offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit the Sikkim Himalayan Zoological Park, which is home to several exotic animals and birds, including the snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, and red panda. In the evening, head to the Hanuman Tok, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, and enjoy the panoramic view of the city.
