2-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    Morning: Visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines of Hinduism. It is believed that the temple was built by the Pandavas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 3:00 PM. It is best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and perform a puja. Afternoon: Take a leisurely walk around the temple and explore the beautiful surroundings. Evening: Attend the evening aarti at the temple which starts at 6:30 PM. It is a beautiful ceremony that should not be missed.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    Located in Kedarnath
    4 hours (5.5 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    Morning: Take a trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake nestled in the Himalayas. The trek starts from Kedarnath and takes approximately 4 hours to complete. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and offers breathtaking views. Afternoon: Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake and take a dip in its cool waters. Evening: Trek back to Kedarnath and spend the evening strolling around the town.

Recommendations

For a breathtaking view of the Himalayas, consider taking a helicopter ride. If you have more time, visit the nearby town of Guptkashi and the Triyuginarayan Temple.
