    Panbari Reserve Forest is located in the heart of the tea-growing district of Tinsukia. The forest has a natural ecosystem and is untouched by human activities. Here, you can go bird-watching as it is home to over 115 species of birds, and spot the rare and endangered hoolock Gibbon.

  • Day 3: Explore the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary

    The Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is home to seven species of primates, including the hoolock gibbon, the slow loris, the macaque, and the pig-tailed macaque. Take a guided tour through the dense forest and enjoy the serene surroundings with sightings of various species of animals and birds.

  • Day 5: Visit the Agnigarh Hill

    The Agnigarh hill offers picturesque views of the rural landscape, the Brahmaputra river, and the Tezpur town. As per Hindu mythology, this fortress was to keep the princess locked inside and was later turned into ruins. Currently, the hill stands high and is a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists.

Transportation

To explore Kaziranga, tourists mainly use rental cabs, which must be rented for the day to visit the different locations. Similarly, Jeeps must be rented for the safari tour at Kaziranga National Park. Bus and train services are also available for some locations. The prices of rental cars range from INR 1200 to INR 2000 per day. The bus and train services have a minimal fare of INR 50.

The most comfortable way of reaching Kaziranga is by air. The nearest airport is Jorhat Airport, located 96 kilometres away, which takes around 2 hours by car.

Useful Tips

To explore Kaziranga entirely, it is suggested to take a six-day trip rather than a five-day trip. Extra time can be allocated to explore the ethnic villages of Assam, including the Mishing village and the Ahom village. For a more relaxed itinerary, one can skip the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary and Agnigarh Hill locations.
