3-Day Dwarka Somnath Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Dwarkadhish Temple
    10 minutes (2 km) from the hotel

    In the morning, visit the Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir. It is one of the Char Dham Hindu pilgrimage sites and is believed to have been built over 1400 years ago. Afternoon can be spent at Gomti Ghat, where the Gomti River meets the Arabian Sea. Take a dip in the holy waters or enjoy a boat ride. In the evening, attend the aarti ceremony at Dwarkadhish Temple.

  2. Day 2: Bet Dwarka Island
    1 hour 15 minutes (31 km) from the hotel

    Take a ferry to the Bet Dwarka Island, said to be the residence of Lord Krishna during his ruling years. Visit the Rukmini Devi Temple and the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. In the afternoon, relax at Dwarka Beach and enjoy the scenic sunset. In the evening, return to Dwarka and visit the Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple.

  3. Day 3: Somnath Temple
    3 hours 47 minutes (229 km) from the hotel

    Visit the Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. It is believed to have been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. Afternoon can be spent at the Somnath Beach, a picturesque beach with clear waters. In the evening, attend the aarti ceremony at the Somnath Temple.

Recommendations

Don't miss the opportunity to taste some of the local cuisine, including Khaman Dhokla, Khandvi, and the famous Gujarati Thali. For a side trip, head to Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, or Gir National Park to see Asiatic lions in their natural habitat. Also, consider attending the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra in June or July in Ahmedabad.
