Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary for Coorg in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    15 minutes (5.6 km) from Madikeri

    Abbey Falls is a stunning waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and is a perfect morning spot to start your Coorg journey. You can take a short trek to reach the falls and enjoy the mesmerizing view. In the afternoon, visit Raja’s Seat to enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings and witness a beautiful sunset. In the evening, explore the local market at Madikeri and indulge in some shopping.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 15 minutes (32 km) from Madikeri

    Dubare Elephant Camp is an excellent place to get up close and personal with elephants. You can take a boat ride to reach the camp and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings. Spend the morning interacting and learning about elephants, and then head to the Namdroling Monastery, which is the largest teaching center of Nyingmapa (a lineage of Tibetan Buddhism) in the world. In the evening, visit the Madikeri Fort and witness the beautiful architecture and history of Coorg.

  3. Day 3: Talakaveri
    1 hour 25 minutes (47 km) from Madikeri

    Talakaveri is the birthplace of the river Kaveri, located in the Brahmagiri hills. You can witness the beautiful view of the surrounding hills and the river Kaveri originating from a small pond. Spend the morning here and then head to the Bhagamandala temple, which is a holy place for Hindus as it is believed that the Kaveri river confluence with the Bay of Bengal at this place. In the evening, visit the Chelavara falls and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall amidst the lush greenery.
