4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (0.5 km) from Kedarnath Bus Stand

    The Kedarnath Temple is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for Hindus, dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the morning, visit the temple and attend the morning aarti. Head to Vasuki Tal in the afternoon, a serene glacial lake surrounded by mountains. Spend the evening enjoying the beautiful views of the Himalayas.

  2. Day 2: Gandhi Sarovar
    1 hour (36 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Located at an altitude of 4,000 metres above sea level, Gandhi Sarovar is a popular tourist destination. In the morning, visit the temple and attend the morning aarti. Head to Gandhi Sarovar after breakfast. The trek to Gandhi Sarovar is steep, and it takes around 3 hours to reach the destination. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal
    1 hour 30 minutes (34 km) from Gandhi Sarovar

    Chorabari Tal, also known as Deoriatal, is a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green forests. In the morning, visit the temple and attend the morning aarti. After breakfast, head to Chorabari Tal. The trek to the lake is easy, and it takes around 1 hour to reach the destination. Spend the evening at your hotel, or explore the local shops and restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Sonprayag
    1 hour 30 minutes (30 km) from Chorabari Tal

    Sonprayag is the confluence of two holy rivers, Mandakini and Basuki. In the morning, visit the temple and attend the morning aarti. After breakfast, head to Sonprayag. Spend the afternoon exploring the local market and the temples in the area, and take a dip in the holy rivers. Return to Kedarnath by evening.

Make sure to carry comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing as the weather can be unpredictable. It is also advisable to carry water bottles and some snacks for the trek. Do not forget to carry a camera to capture the beautiful views of the Himalayas.
