Madurai Adventure Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Trekking in Sirumalai
    1 hour 26 minutes (36 miles) from Madurai Airport

    Start your adventure with a one-day trek in the Sirumalai hills. Trekking in these hills will provide you with an excellent opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The trail is easy to moderate level and takes you through lush green forests and waterfalls. Make sure you carry plenty of water and some snacks, as there are no shops in the hills. You can also stop at the viewpoint and picnic area to enjoy the stunning views and have lunch. After trekking, return to the hotel and relax.

  2. Day 2: Water Adventure in Vaigai Dam
    44 minutes (18 miles) from Madurai City Centre

    Start your day with a visit to Vaigai Dam, an excellent spot for water adventure. You can enjoy boating, fishing and swimming in the dam's crystal clear water. You can also take a walk on the dam and enjoy the scenic beauty around it. After having fun in the water, you can head to the nearby restaurant to have lunch. In the evening, you can visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple and witness the famous Aarti ceremony.

  3. Day 3: Wildlife Safari in Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours 14 minutes (73 miles) from Madurai City Centre

    Today, get ready for a wildlife safari in the Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a vast range of flora and fauna. The best time to visit this sanctuary is between July and September. During this time, you can spot various animals, including Indian Gaur, Nilgiri tahr, Sambar deer and many more. After the safari, you can have lunch in the nearby restaurant and then head back to the city. In the evening, you can visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum and learn about India's freedom struggle.

  4. Day 4: Paragliding in Kodaikanal
    3 hours 9 minutes (78 miles) from Madurai City Centre

    On the last day, get ready for an adrenaline-pumping adventure of paragliding in Kodaikanal. It is one of the best places in South India for paragliding and offers stunning views of the Western Ghats. There are various paragliding options available ranging from beginner to advanced level. After paragliding, you can have lunch at the nearby restaurant and then visit the Kodaikanal Lake and enjoy boating. In the evening, you can head back to Madurai.
