3-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Trek to Kedarnath Temple
    Starting Point: Sonprayag Parking (20.7 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes from Guptkashi)
    Distance Covered: 7.5 miles

    Morning: Start the day early and reach Sonprayag Parking. From there, start the 7.5 miles trek to Kedarnath Temple. It takes around 4-5 hours to complete the trek. You will experience beautiful views of the mountains on the way.

    Afternoon: After reaching the temple, take some rest and explore the surroundings. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters and is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India.

    Evening: Attend the evening aarti at Kedarnath Temple. The aarti is a beautiful experience and a must-see for all visitors.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Trek
    Starting Point: Kedarnath Temple (9.5 miles, 3 hours from Vasuki Tal Trek Base Camp)
    Distance Covered: 8.5 miles

    Morning: Start early and trek to Vasuki Tal, a serene high-altitude lake. The trek takes around 6-7 hours to complete, and you will be surrounded by stunning mountain views.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake and take in the beautiful scenery.

    Evening: Trek back to Kedarnath Temple and attend the evening aarti.

  3. Day 3: Gaumukh Trek
    Starting Point: Gangotri (18.3 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes from Harsil)
    Distance Covered: 13.5 miles

    Morning: Start early and drive to Gangotri to begin the 13.5 miles trek to Gaumukh, the source of the holy river Ganges. The trek takes around 7-8 hours to complete and is a challenging but rewarding experience.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a packed lunch by the river and take some time to rest and take in the stunning views.

    Evening: Trek back to Gangotri and spend some time exploring the local market and shops.

Recommendations

Other local attractions and experiences you can consider are the Yamunotri Temple, which is another holy pilgrimage site, and rock climbing and rappelling at Bhairav Ghati. You can also take a side trip to Auli, a beautiful ski resort in the area.

To maximize your fun, make sure you pack comfortable trekking shoes and warm clothes as the weather can be unpredictable. Also, carry plenty of water and energy snacks for the trek. Don't forget to carry a good camera to capture the beautiful views.
