5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    5 minutes (0.8 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, we will visit the famous Kedarnath Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a scenic trek of around 22 km from the helipad to the temple amidst the lush green Himalayas. Afternoon can be spent exploring the beautiful surrounding areas, followed by an evening aarti ceremony at the temple.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    8 hours (20 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Vasuki Tal is a high altitude lake nestled amidst the snow-covered mountains. It is a challenging trek, but the panoramic views of the Himalayas from the top make it worthwhile. We will start early in the morning and after reaching the top, we can enjoy a picnic lunch and relax by the lake. We will return to our accommodation by evening.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal
    6 hours (18 km) from Vasuki Tal

    Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar, is a glacial lake located above the Kedarnath Temple. The trek to the lake is steep and challenging but the stunning views of the surrounding peaks and the lake make it worth the effort. We will start early in the morning, spend some time by the lake, and return by evening.

  4. Day 4: Kalimath
    4 hours (15 km) from Chorabari Tal

    Kalimath is a small town located in the Rudraprayag district and is famous for the Kali Temple. It is believed that the goddess Kali appeared at this place and hence it holds great religious significance. We can also enjoy the scenic drive through the beautiful mountains and valleys. We can explore the town in the afternoon and attend the evening aarti ceremony at the temple.

  5. Day 5: Sonprayag
    3 hours (75 km) from Kalimath

    Sonprayag is a beautiful town located at the confluence of the Mandakini and Basuki rivers. We can spend the morning visiting the Triyuginarayan Temple, which is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married. In the afternoon, we can enjoy some adventure activities like river rafting and rock climbing. We can also visit the Gaurikund Temple which is known for its hot water springs. We will return to the hotel by evening.

In addition to the above itinerary, you can also consider visiting the Tungnath Temple and Deoria Tal Lake. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Deoria Tal is a serene lake surrounded by lush green forests and offers a peaceful retreat. You can also take a side trip to Badrinath, which is one of the four holy shrines of Hinduism.
