Relaxing 3-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    Walking distance from Kedarnath Base Camp

    The morning is the best time to visit Kedarnath Temple as it is less crowded and the weather is pleasant. The temple is a historical and spiritual place of worship for Hindus. Spend the afternoon exploring the local restaurants and shops. In the evening, attend the evening aarti ceremony at the temple and immerse yourself in the holy atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    3.5 hours (7.5 miles) by trek from Kedarnath Base Camp

    Set off early in the morning for Vasuki Tal, a beautiful lake located at an altitude of 14,200 ft. The trek is moderate and takes approximately 3.5 hours. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake and spend the afternoon relaxing and taking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Return to the base camp before sunset.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag
    1.5 hours (20.9 miles) from Kedarnath Base Camp

    Spend the morning relaxing and taking in the serene environment of Kedarnath. After lunch, take a trip to Sonprayag, a scenic town located at the confluence of rivers Basuki and Mandakini. Take a dip in the holy waters and visit the local temple before watching the sunset over the mountains. Return to Kedarnath Base Camp for dinner.

Recommendations

Consider taking a helicopter ride to Kedarnath for an aerial view of the stunning mountains. Another experience to try is attending the local fairs and festivals which are held throughout the year. If you have extra time, visit the nearby town of Guptkashi or take a trip to the scenic Satopanth Lake.
