Darjeeling Nature Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Tiger Hill
    20 minutes (6.4km) from Darjeeling

    Start your day early and head to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga mountain range. Marvel at the breathtaking views as the sun rises and the mountains change colours. After breakfast, visit the Ghoom Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the region, and learn about Buddhist culture and history. Spend the afternoon at the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and witness some of the rarest and exotic species of fauna.

  2. Day 2: Happy Valley Tea Estate
    25 minutes (9.1km) from Darjeeling

    Head to the Happy Valley Tea Estate to learn about the tea-making process and take a walk through the lush tea gardens. Try some of the finest Darjeeling tea while enjoying spectacular views of the valley. In the evening, visit the Observatory Hill and the Mahakal Temple, one of the most significant religious sites in Darjeeling.

  3. Day 3: Singalila National Park
    2 hours and 45 minutes (20.1km) from Darjeeling

    Take a day trip to Singalila National Park, one of the most beautiful and biodiverse parks in the region. Enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains and see some of the rarest species of flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Take a trek to Sandakphu, the highest peak in the park, and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas.

  4. Day 4: Darjeeling Himalayan Railway
    10 minutes (2km) from Darjeeling

    Take a ride on the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the Toy Train, and enjoy stunning views of the mountains and tea plantations. Visit the Batasia Loop, a spiral railway track, and the War Memorial, built to honour the Gorkha soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Spend the afternoon at the Darjeeling Mall Road and try some local street food and shop for souvenirs.

  5. Day 5: Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park
    30 minutes (13.5km) from Darjeeling

    Visit the Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park, a beautiful natural park with waterfalls and a river flowing through it. Take a walk through the stunning gardens and enjoy the mesmerizing views of the mountains and valleys. Spend the evening at the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre, a non-profit organization that provides vocational training to refugees, and shop for some beautiful handicrafts.

  6. Day 6: Mirik Lake
    1 hour and 45 minutes (49.6km) from Darjeeling

    Take a day trip to Mirik Lake, a beautiful natural lake surrounded by lush green forests and mountains. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake and take a walk through the beautiful gardens. Visit the Bokar Monastery, a peaceful and serene monastery with stunning views of the lake and mountains.
