4-Day Sikkim City Experience Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    32 minutes (22.2 km) from Bagdogra Airport

    In the morning, visit the Enchey Monastery, a beautiful temple with intricate carvings and murals. Afternoon, explore the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a museum and research centre that houses an impressive collection of Tibetan artefacts. In the evening, take a stroll in the M.G. Marg, the main shopping and entertainment area in Gangtok.

  2. Day 2: Pelling
    3 hours (115 km) from Gangtok

    Morning, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. Afternoon, hike up to Sangachoeling Monastery, a scenic and peaceful location with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, head to Rabdentse Ruins, the second capital of Sikkim before it was destroyed by the Nepalese.

  3. Day 3: Ravangla
    2 hours 30 minutes (75.6 km) from Pelling

    Morning, visit Buddha Park, a serene and tranquil park with a 130 ft tall statue of Buddha and a beautiful garden. Afternoon, check out Ralang Monastery, an important monastery in Sikkim that houses a rare and ancient Buddhist manuscript. In the evening, relax at the Temi Tea Garden, a picturesque tea estate that offers guided tours and tea tasting.

  4. Day 4: Lachung
    6 hours (117 km) from Ravangla

    Morning, visit the Yumthang Valley, a scenic valley surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks and known for its hot springs and rhododendron forests. Afternoon, drive up to the Zero Point, the end of the road and the last outpost of civilization before the Tibetan border. In the evening, return to Lachung and relax at the picturesque Lachung Monastery.

Consider visiting the Tsomgo Lake and Nathu La Pass if they are open during your visit. These are some of the most popular tourist destinations in Sikkim. You can also take a side trip to Darjeeling, a charming hill station known for its tea plantations and stunning views of the Himalayas.
