Sikkim Honeymoon Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    31 minutes (22.1 km) from Pakyong Airport

    In the morning, visit the enchanting Banjhakri Falls, a scenic waterfall that offers a tranquil atmosphere. Afternoon, head to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a museum that showcases the Tibetan culture and history. In the evening, stroll around the MG Marg and enjoy the local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Lachung
    5 hours 26 minutes (118.4 km) from Gangtok

    In the morning, head to the Seven Sister Waterfalls for a refreshing dip in the cold water. Afternoon, continue the journey to Lachung, a scenic village nestled in the Himalayas. In the evening, visit the Lachung Monastery and witness the stunning sunset over the mountains.

  3. Day 3: Yumthang Valley
    1 hour 7 minutes (24.6 km) from Lachung

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Yumthang Valley, also known as the 'Valley of Flowers'. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains, lush greenery and gurgling streams. Afternoon, visit the Yumesamdong or Zero Point, the last outpost of civilization. In the evening, head back to Lachung and relax in the natural hot springs.

  4. Day 4: Pelling
    5 hours 19 minutes (115.3 km) from Lachung

    In the morning, leave Lachung and head to Pelling, a picturesque town that offers amazing views of the Kanchenjunga peak. Afternoon, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Sikkim. In the evening, head to the Rabdentse Ruins, an ancient capital of the Sikkim Kingdom.

Recommendations

Other local attractions include the Tsomgo Lake, Rumtek Monastery, and the Tashiding Monastery. A side trip to the Nathula Pass, a mountain pass on the Indo-China border, is highly recommended. To maximize your fun, try the local Sikkimese dishes such as momos, thukpa and gundruk. Do not forget to carry warm clothes as the weather can be unpredictable.
