Begin your day with a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the "Toy Train". This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a scenic view of the Himalayas as it travels through the hills. Afternoon, visit Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, which houses a variety of Himalayan animals including the snow leopard and red panda. End your day with a visit to the Peace Pagoda, a stunning Buddhist temple that offers a panoramic view of Darjeeling.
Wake up early and drive to Tiger Hill to catch the sunrise over the Himalayas. Afterward, visit the Ghoom Monastery, the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling, and the Batasia Loop, a spiral railway where you can see a 360-degree view of the surrounding hills. Spend your afternoon at the Happy Valley Tea Estate, where you can learn about the tea-making process and sample some of the local tea. End your day with some local shopping at the Darjeeling Mall Road.
If you have extra time in Darjeeling, consider visiting the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the St. Andrew's Church, or the Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway. For a side trip, head to Mirik, a small town about an hour's drive from Darjeeling, where you can visit the Sumendu Lake and the Monastery. Make sure to try the local momos and thukpa, and visit the local bazaars for some souvenirs.
