Exploring the Natural Beauty of Leh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Hemis National Park

    In the morning, head to Hemis National Park, the largest national park in South Asia. The park is home to many endangered species such as the snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, and Eurasian brown bear. Take a guided tour of the park to learn about its flora and fauna. In the afternoon, hike to the picturesque Gotsang Gompa monastery, located inside the park. Spend the evening stargazing in the park, which has some of the clearest skies in the country.

  2. Day 2: Nubra Valley
    4 hours 30 minutes (127 km) from Hemis National Park

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Nubra Valley, which is known for its sand dunes, double-humped camels, and hot springs. Visit the Diskit Monastery and experience its serenity. In the afternoon, ride a camel or ATV on the sand dunes. Alternatively, relax in the hot springs. Spend the evening strolling through the quaint villages and interacting with the locals.

  3. Day 3: Pangong Tso Lake
    4 hours 30 minutes (139 km) from Nubra Valley

    In the morning, head to the breathtaking Pangong Tso Lake, which is located at an altitude of 4,350 m and is famous for its changing colors. Take a boat ride on the lake or simply relax on the shore. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Spangmik village and enjoy the local cuisine. Spend the evening watching the sunset over the lake.

Other places to consider visiting are the Thiksey Monastery, the Shanti Stupa, and the Zanskar River. You can also take a trek to the Stok Kangri peak or visit the Tso Moriri Lake.
