Visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters and is only accessible by foot or on a pony. The morning is the best time to visit the temple as it is less crowded. Afternoon, enjoy a packed lunch and witness the stunning view of the Himalayas. You may also visit the Bhairav Temple in the evening, which is located nearby.
Start early in the morning and trek towards Gandhi Sarovar, named after Mahatma Gandhi. The trek is steep and may take around 4-5 hours. Enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped peaks and the Mandakini river. The lake is situated at an altitude of 4,000 meters and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Have a packed lunch and descend back to Kedarnath by late afternoon. In the evening, you can visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi, which is located near the temple.
Do not miss the opportunity to visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, located 26 km from Kedarnath. It is believed to be the wedding place of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. You can also visit the Vasuki Tal lake, which is a 6-hour trek from Kedarnath. If you have an extra day, you can also visit Badrinath, which is another sacred shrine in Hinduism.
