Start your day early and head towards Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The morning trek to the peak will take approximately three hours, and you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek. After the trek, stop by the nearby Soochipara Waterfalls for a refreshing swim and lunch. In the evening, head to the Pookode Lake for a peaceful boat ride and watch the sunset.
Start your day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a boat ride on the reservoir and enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings. Next, head to the Edakkal Caves, an ancient rock shelter with petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic era. Spend the afternoon exploring the caves and learning about their historical significance. In the evening, head to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary for a jeep safari and spot some of Kerala's unique wildlife.
There are plenty of other places to visit in Wayanad, including the Thirunelli Temple, the ancient Jain Temple at Sulthan Bathery, and the Chain Tree where a British engineer was killed by a tribal youth. You could also consider a visit to the Kuruva Island, a river island with dense green forest and diverse flora and fauna. If you want to add some adventure to your trip, you could try zip-lining at the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary or bamboo rafting on the Kabini River.
