6-Day Amritsar Itinerary for City Experiences - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Golden Temple
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Amritsar Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Golden Temple, the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh community. Spend your afternoon wandering around the markets near the temple and indulge in local delicacies.   2. Day 2: Jallianwala Bagh and Partition Museum

    Start your day with a visit to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, which houses manuscripts, coins, and weapons from the Sikh Empire. Head to Ram Bagh Gardens in the afternoon, a beautiful Mughal-style garden, and relax in the serene environs. In the evening, watch the Gobindgarh Fort laser show depicting the history of Punjab and the fort.

  4. Day 4: Khair-ud-Din Masjid and Old City Walk

    Visit the Khair-ud-Din Masjid, the oldest mosque in Amritsar built-in 1876.   5. Day 5: Mata Lal Devi Temple and Shopping

  6. Day 6: Gobindgarh Fort and Sadar Bazaar

    Begin your final day in Amritsar with a visit to the Gobindgarh Fort, a historic fort built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Spend the afternoon at the Sadar Bazaar, a bustling marketplace filled with handicrafts and textiles. In the evening, try some delicious street food at the Hall Bazaar and end your trip with a visit to the Hussainiwala Border.

Recommendations:

Don't miss visiting the Beating Retreat Ceremony at the Wagah Border, which takes place every evening before sunset. The Ram Tirath Temple, Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Summer Palace, and the Pul Kanjari are other interesting places to visit. Opt for a food tour to taste the best of Amritsar's street food.
