2-Day Itinerary for Satara in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kaas Plateau
    30 minutes (12.5 miles) from Satara City Center

    Kaas Plateau is a biodiverse region located in the Western Ghats and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Morning (8 AM - 12 PM): Start the day with a serene walk in the plateau and witness the vibrant colors of various flowers. Afternoon (12 PM - 2 PM): Head to a nearby restaurant for a delicious vegetarian lunch. Evening (2 PM - 6 PM): Visit the Thoseghar Waterfall, located 30 minutes away from the plateau. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and is a perfect spot for photography.

  2. Day 2: Sajjangad
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Satara City Center

    Sajjangad is a fort located at a height of 3000 feet above sea level. Morning (9 AM - 12 PM): Take a trek to the fort and enjoy the scenic surroundings. Afternoon (12 PM - 2 PM): Have lunch at a local restaurant and try some traditional Maharashtrian cuisine. Evening (2 PM - 6 PM): Visit the Ajinkyatara Fort, located 30 minutes from Sajjangad. The fort provides an incredible view of the Satara city and the surrounding hills.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Thoseghar Waterfall during monsoon season when it gets even more beautiful. You can also visit the Kaas Lake near the plateau. For a side trip, visit the Shivsagar Lake located in the nearby town of Kategaon.
