Two-Day Itinerary for Mathura in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple
    5 minutes (0.5 km) from Mathura Railway Station

    Start your morning at the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. This temple complex has multiple shrines and is considered one of the most sacred places in Mathura. After offering your prayers, head to the nearby Vishram Ghat for a boat ride on the Yamuna river. This will provide you with a picturesque view of Mathura. Afternoon can be spent at Dwarkadhish Temple, which is famous for its impressive architecture. You can also indulge in some street food outside the temple premises. Spend your evening at Prem Mandir, a beautiful white marble temple which is lit up with colourful lights at night.

  2. Day 2: Mathura Museum and Kusum Sarovar
    25 minutes (5.7 km) from Prem Mandir

    Start your day at the Mathura Museum, which houses an impressive collection of sculptures, paintings, and artefacts dating back to the Kushana period. The museum also has a section dedicated to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Afternoon can be spent at the Kusum Sarovar, a large tank surrounded by scenic gardens. Take a walk around the gardens and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Spend your evening at the Radha Raman Temple, an important pilgrimage site for followers of the Vaishnav sect. The temple has intricate carvings and a peaceful ambience.

If you have time, consider visiting the Gita Mandir, a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna's teachings. You can also take a day trip to Vrindavan, which is just 13 km away from Mathura. Vrindavan is home to numerous temples, such as the Banke Bihari Temple and the ISKCON Temple. You can also visit the Goverdhan Hill, which is associated with Lord Krishna's childhood.
