6-Day Itinerary for Darjeeling in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Tiger Hill
    20 minutes (6.3 km) from Darjeeling city center

    In the early morning, head to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga Mountains. Afterward, visit the Ghum Monastery, the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the area. In the evening, stroll through the Darjeeling Mall and indulge in some shopping.

  2. Day 2: Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Darjeeling city center

    Spend the morning at the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, home to many endangered species including the snow leopard and red panda. Take a break for lunch at Keventer's, a popular restaurant with a breathtaking view of the mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the Tenzing Norgay Rock, named after the first person to climb Mount Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary.

  3. Day 3: Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park
    30 minutes (8 km) from Darjeeling city center

    Spend the morning at the Rock Garden, a beautiful garden with waterfalls and rock formations. Afterward, head to Ganga Maya Park, a peaceful park with a lake and paddle boats. In the evening, visit the Mahakal Temple, one of the most revered Hindu temples in Darjeeling.

  4. Day 4: Dali Monastery and Darjeeling Tea Plantations
    25 minutes (6.5 km) from Darjeeling city center

    Start the day at the Dali Monastery, a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Afterward, visit the Happy Valley Tea Estate to learn about the process of tea making and indulge in a tea tasting session. In the evening, visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist temple with a stunning view of the city.

  5. Day 5: Singalila National Park
    2 hours (52 km) from Darjeeling city center
