Coorg 3-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Talakaveri
    1 hour 45 minutes (48.6 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit Talakaveri, the source of the river Kaveri. Take a dip in the holy pond and seek blessings at the temple. Situated at an altitude of 1,276 meters, it offers breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, visit the Bhagamandala temple, built in Kerala style architecture, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening at Raja's Seat, a garden with beautiful views of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 30 minutes (47.5 km) from Talakaveri

    In the morning, head to Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can interact with elephants, watch them being bathed and fed, and even take an elephant ride. Visit the Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, in the afternoon. The temple is home to over 5,000 monks and is renowned for its exquisite architecture. Spend the evening at Abbey Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by dense forests.

  3. Day 3: Madikeri Fort and Omkareshwara Temple
    30 minutes (12.3 km) from Abbey Falls

    In the morning, visit Madikeri Fort, built by King Mudduraja in the 17th century and later renovated by the British. The fort houses a museum that displays artifacts and weapons used by the royal family. In the afternoon, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and built in a unique blend of Islamic and Gothic styles. Spend the evening at Chelavara Falls, a magnificent waterfall with a backdrop of lush greenery.

Do not miss out on visiting the coffee plantations and indulging in freshly brewed coffee. You can also take a trek to the Tadiandamol Peak or visit the Nagarhole National Park for a jungle safari. Another must-visit place is the Talacauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to several species of flora and fauna. Do not forget to try the local cuisine, especially the bamboo shoot curry and the pandi curry.
