Nature-Filled 3-Day Diu and Somnath Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Diu Beach

    Start your day with a morning stroll along the serene Diu Beach. Take in the cool sea breeze and enjoy the view of the Arabian Sea. Afternoon, take a short drive to the Diu Fort, built in 1535, and explore the massive walls, intricate carvings, and beautiful lighthouse. In the evening, visit the INS Khukri Memorial, a tribute to the Indian Naval Ship Khukri that sunk during the 1971 war.

  2. Day 2: Somnath Temple

    Embark on a spiritual journey to the renowned Somnath Temple in the morning. This iconic temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and its history dates back to several centuries. Take a dip in the holy waters of the Triveni Sangam nearby. In the afternoon, visit the breathtakingly beautiful Kamnath Mahadev Temple, surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy the scenic views and take a moment to soak in the calmness. In the evening, head to the Bhalka Tirtha, where Lord Krishna is believed to have been hit by an arrow.

  3. Day 3: Gir National Park

    Get up early for an exciting jungle safari at the Gir National Park. This is the last abode of the Asiatic lion and is also home to several other species of flora and fauna. Take a guided tour and keep your eyes open for the magnificent animals that call this place home. Afternoon, visit the breathtakingly beautiful Kankai Mata Temple, surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy the scenic views and take a moment to soak in the calmness. In the evening, head to the Devalia Safari Park, where you will get to see the majestic lions and other wildlife up close.

If you are interested in history, you can visit the St. Paul's Church in Diu, the oldest church in the region. You can also visit the Junagadh Gate, a historical monument built in 1601. Nature lovers can explore the Nagao Beach and the Sunset Point in Diu. If you have extra time, you can plan a day trip to the Girnar Mountain Range, located 93 km from Somnath. Here, you can enjoy a trek to the peak and visit several ancient temples and caves. To maximize your fun, try some of the local delicacies such as the Khaman Dhokla and the Fafda Jalebi. Finally, don't forget to take back some traditional handicrafts and souvenirs from the local markets.
