4-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    55 minutes (14.8 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, embark on an adventurous trek to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek is about 4 km long and will take around 3-4 hours to complete.   2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam

    Start the day early by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, one of the largest earthen dams in Asia. Enjoy a thrilling speed boat ride on the dam's reservoir. In the afternoon, trek to Meenmutty Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall that cascades from a height of 300 meters. End the day by experiencing the beauty of the Kuruva Islands, a group of uninhabited islands in the middle of the Kabini River.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple and Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour 30 minutes (41.4 miles) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    Visit the ancient Thirunelli Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and take part in the early morning rituals. After breakfast, hike to Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, known for its diverse bird species and natural caves. The trek is challenging and takes around 3-4 hours to complete. In the evening, visit the nearby Brahmagiri Peak, the highest peak in the Brahmagiri range of hills, for a majestic sunset view.

  4. Day 4: Edakkal Caves and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 10 minutes (27.1 miles) from Thirunelli Temple

    Explore the prehistoric Edakkal Caves, famous for their ancient rock art. The caves are located on top of a hill and require a short trek to reach. In the afternoon, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, and leopards. Enjoy a wildlife safari through the sanctuary and witness the animals in their natural habitat. End the day by visiting the nearby Phantom Rock, a unique rock formation resembling a human skull.
