Two-Day Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1-hour drive (30 km) from Coorg

    Talacauvery is the birthplace of the Cauvery river and is considered a sacred place by locals. The morning starts with a visit to the temple followed by a trek to the Brahmagiri peak for a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings. After lunch, head towards Bhagamandala, where the Cauvery meets the Kannike and Sujyothi rivers. Take a dip in the holy waters and visit the Bhagandeshwara temple, which is known for its intricate carvings and architecture. In the evening, stroll around the local market and try some authentic Coorgi cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Discover Abbey Falls and Dubare Elephant Camp
    2-hour drive (70 km) from Coorg

    Start the day by visiting Abbey Falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a guided nature walk to explore the flora and fauna of the area. After lunch, head towards Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can take a boat ride on the Cauvery river and watch the elephants bathe and play. You can also participate in feeding and bathing the elephants. In the evening, visit the Nalknad Palace, a beautiful palace built in the traditional Kerala style, which boasts of intricate woodwork and architecture.

Coorg has much more to offer, and if you have some extra time, you can visit the Namdroling Monastery, the second-largest Tibetan settlement in India, or the Madikeri Fort, a historical fort built by Mudduraja in the 17th century. To maximize your fun, plan your trip during the monsoon season, which starts from June and lasts till September, when the waterfalls and the greenery are at their best.
