4-Day Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit the magnificent Abbey Falls, surrounded by lush greenery and coffee plantations. You can take a short trek downhill to experience the waterfall up close. In the afternoon, head to Madikeri Fort, a historical monument with a museum showcasing artifacts from the Kodava dynasty. In the evening, stroll around Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with a breathtaking view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 15 minutes (36.4 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can interact with elephants and learn about their daily routine. Enjoy a coracle ride on the Kaveri River and indulge in river rafting. In the afternoon, visit the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. In the evening, explore the Talacauvery and Bhagamandala temples, the source of the Kaveri River.

  3. Day 3: Tadiandamol Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (41.8 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, trek to the highest peak in Coorg, Tadiandamol. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys from the summit. In the afternoon, visit the Chelavara Falls, a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains. In the evening, explore the Chiklihole Reservoir, a serene lake surrounded by dense forests.

  4. Day 4: Nagarhole National Park
    1 hour 50 minutes (77.9 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit the Nagarhole National Park, home to tigers, leopards, elephants, and various other wildlife. Enjoy a jungle safari and spot some of the rarest species of birds. In the afternoon, visit the Iruppu Falls, a picturesque waterfall nestled in the Brahmagiri Hills. In the evening, explore the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, home to various species of flora and fauna.

If you're a coffee lover, make sure to visit the coffee plantations in Coorg. You can also try some of the local cuisine, such as kadambuttu and pandi curry. If you have extra time, consider visiting the Bylakuppe Golden Temple, the second largest Tibetan settlement in India. You can also take a day trip to Kabini, a popular wildlife reserve. To maximize your fun, book your jungle safari and coracle ride in advance. Finally, don't forget to carry comfortable clothes, sunscreen, and insect repellent for your outdoor activities.
