A One-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. 6:00 AM: Kedarnath Temple

    5.9 km from Sonprayag, 20 minutes by car
    Gaurikund is considered to be a holy place where Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife. You can visit the Gauri Temple and take a holy dip in the hot water springs.
  5. 4:00 PM: Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary
    18.3 km from Gaurikund, 1 hour by car
    The Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area for the rare Himalayan species. You can spot animals like musk deer, snow leopards, and Himalayan black bear. The sanctuary is closed during monsoons, so be sure to check beforehand.
  6. 6:00 PM: Gandhi Sarovar
    5.4 km from Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, 30 minutes on foot
    Gandhi Sarovar is a glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. You can catch a glimpse of the beautiful Chaukhamba Peak and Kedarnath Peak. Note that the trek is extremely difficult and requires a guide.
  7. 8:00 PM: Back to Kedarnath Temple
