5-Day Nature itinerary for Sikkim

  1. Day 1: Khecheopalri Lake
    2 hours (44.5 km) from Bagdogra Airport

    Located at an altitude of 5,577ft, the Khecheopalri Lake is considered sacred by locals. Spend the morning walking around the serene lake, surrounded by lush green forests and hills. In the afternoon, visit the Khecheopalri Monastery, which is known for its beautiful architecture and exquisite paintings. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the lake.

  2. Day 2: Yuksom
    3.5 hours (72.6 km) from Khecheopalri Lake

    Yuksom is a small historical town located in West Sikkim. In the morning, visit the Dubdi Monastery, which is said to be the oldest monastery in Sikkim. After a 30-minute hike, reach the Tashiding Monastery, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, stroll around the town and visit the Norbugang Park.

  3. Day 3: Pelling
    1 hour (32.7 km) from Yuksom

    Pelling is a popular tourist destination and is known for its stunning views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. In the morning, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, which is one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. After lunch, visit the Rabdentse Ruins, which was the second capital of Sikkim. In the evening, take a 30-minute walk to the Sangachoeling Monastery, which offers panoramic views of the mountains.

  4. Day 4: Tsomgo Lake
    3 hours (62.2 km) from Pelling

    Located at an altitude of 12,313ft, Tsomgo Lake is a must-visit destination in Sikkim. In the morning, drive to the lake and take a yak ride around the crystal-clear water. After lunch, visit the nearby Baba Mandir, which is a temple dedicated to an Indian army soldier who died in the Indo-China war. In the evening, return to Gangtok.

  5. Day 5: Rumtek Monastery
    1 hour (23.8 km) from Gangtok

    In the morning, visit the Rumtek Monastery, which is one of the largest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. After lunch, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which is a museum and research center for Tibetan culture and history. In the evening, stroll around the M.G. Marg, which is a popular shopping and food district in Gangtok.
