Cultural Immersion in Kedarnath - 2 Day Itinerary in June 2023
Day 1: Visit Kedarnath Temple
Walking distance from Kedarnath Base Camp
Morning: Start your day early and reach the temple by 7:00 am when it opens for darshan. The Kedarnath temple, built in the 8th century, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India and an important pilgrimage site. Spend time exploring the ancient architecture, rituals and traditions of the temple.
Afternoon: After lunch, walk around the temple and explore the beautiful surroundings of Kedarnath. Visit Bhairav Temple, Gandhi Sarovar and Vasuki Tal which are located nearby.
Evening: Attend the evening aarti at Kedarnath Temple which takes place at 6:30 pm. Experience the spiritual energy and devotion of the aarti which is truly mesmerizing.
Day 2: Trek to Kedarkantha Peak
7 km (3 hours) from Kedarnath Base Camp
Morning: Start your day early and head towards the Kedarkantha Peak which is famous for its trekking trail. The trek to Kedarkantha peak is a beautiful and scenic walk which will take you through pine forests and meadows.
Afternoon: Reach the peak by afternoon and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan range. Have a packed lunch and relax for some time in the tranquil surroundings of the peak.
Evening: Trek back to the base camp and return to your accommodation. Spend the evening relaxing and reflecting on the beautiful experiences of the day.

If you have more time, you can consider visiting nearby places like Tungnath Temple, Deoria Tal and Chopta which are all located within a 50 km radius. You can also experience the local culture by interacting with the locals and trying some of the local cuisine. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and warm clothes as the temperature can drop drastically in the evenings. Lastly, make sure to take care of the environment by avoiding littering and respecting the local customs.
