Nassau: A Two-Day Itinerary in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Historic Sites of Nassau
10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Nassau Cruise Port

Start your day off at the Pirates of Nassau Museum, which is open from 9 am to 6 pm. Learn about the golden age of piracy and the infamous pirates who called Nassau home. Afterward, visit the Queen's Staircase, a 102-foot staircase carved out of limestone by slaves in the late 18th century. It's just a 5-minute drive from the museum. For lunch, try the traditional Bahamian dish of conch fritters at Arawak Cay. Spend your afternoon admiring the colonial architecture of Nassau, including Parliament Square, the pink-hued Government House, and the Gothic-style Christ Church Cathedral. In the evening, head to the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay for some delicious seafood and live music.

  2. Day 2: Beach Day and Water Adventure
20 minutes (5.8 miles) from Downtown Nassau

Start your morning off at Cable Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Nassau. Spend the morning sunbathing or swimming in the crystal-clear waters. For lunch, head to Fisherman's Cove, which is open from 11 am to 3 pm, for some local seafood. In the afternoon, head to the water park at Atlantis Paradise Island. They offer a variety of water slides, a lazy river, and even an aquarium. The park is open from 10 am to 5 pm. For dinner, head to Café Matisse for some Italian cuisine and live music.

Recommendations

If you have extra time in Nassau, consider visiting Blue Lagoon Island for some dolphin encounters or snorkeling adventures. You can also take a day trip to Exuma to see the famous swimming pigs and other wildlife. To maximize your fun, consider renting a car to explore more of the island. And be sure to try the local favorite, conch salad, at one of the many food shacks around the island.
