Transportation

As Venice is built on islands separated by canals, walking is the most popular and practical mode of transportation. The waterbus or "vaporetto" is frequent in locations where walking is inconvenient. Do note, the vaporetto can get crowded, so consider purchasing tickets in advance or even investing in an unlimited pass if staying for a more extended period. The typical one-way fare costs around €7.50 - €10 per person. Taxis and private water taxis are available, and they charge according to the journey's duration and distance. However, they can be quite pricey.

Useful tips

Suppose you have extra time, consider visiting the famous Murano Island, which is famous for its high-quality glassblowing traditions. To experience traditional Venetian artisanal crafts, visit the Scuola Grande di San Rocco museum. Additionally, consider taking a sunset stroll through the charming Campo Santa Margherita square, which comes alive with local food and drink stalls. If your visit is brief, skip the Gondola ride and opt for a Vaporetto ride from Canal Grande's Grand Canal, which has equally stunning views.
