Relaxing 3-Day Itinerary in Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 20 minutes (32.6 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, take a 4 km trek to the heart-shaped lake at the top of Chembra Peak. The trek is steep, but the scenery is breathtaking. In the afternoon, visit Pookode Lake, which is surrounded by forests and hills. You can go for a boat ride or a nature walk. In the evening, visit the Edakkal Caves, which are famous for their prehistoric carvings.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 8 minutes (27.6 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earth dam in India. You can go for a boat ride or a trek to the nearby hills. In the afternoon, visit the Meenmutty waterfalls, which are located in the middle of a forest. You need to trek for 2 km to reach the waterfalls, but it's worth the effort. In the evening, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, and other animals.

  3. Day 3: Kuruva Island
    1 hour 20 minutes (40.3 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the Kuruva Island, which is a group of islands in the middle of the Kabini river. You need to take a bamboo raft to reach the island. The island is filled with dense forests, rare birds, and orchids. In the afternoon, visit the Soochippara waterfalls, which are also known as Sentinel Rock waterfalls. You need to trek for 1.5 km to reach the waterfalls. In the evening, visit the Thirunelli temple, which is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
