4-day Family Friendly Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Madikeri Fort and Raja's Seat
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Madikeri bus stand

    In the morning, visit the Madikeri Fort built in the 17th century. The fort has a palace, a temple, and a prison, which is now a museum showcasing artifacts and weapons used by the Coorg rulers. In the afternoon, head to Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with artificial fountains and a breathtaking view of the hills. In the evening, enjoy the musical fountain show with your family.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp and Abbey Falls
    1 hour (22 km) from Madikeri Fort

    Spend your morning at the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can watch elephants being bathed and trained. You can also participate in activities like elephant rides and coracle rides. In the afternoon, visit Abbey Falls, a serene waterfall surrounded by coffee plantations. Hire a guide and take a short trek to the waterfall. In the evening, enjoy a cup of Coorg coffee at a nearby café.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 30 minutes (45 km) from Abbey Falls

    Visit Talacauvery in the morning, which is the birthplace of the holy river Cauvery. Take a holy dip in the holy pond and seek blessings at the temple. In the afternoon, visit Bhagamandala, where the Cauvery river converges with the Kannike and the mythical Sujyoti rivers. You can also visit the Bhagandeshwara temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

  4. Day 4: Nisargadhama and Namdroling Monastery
    1 hour 20 minutes (34 km) from Talacauvery

    Visit Nisargadhama in the morning, which is an island surrounded by the Cauvery river. You can spend time with your family in the hanging bridge, boating, and doing other activities. In the afternoon, head to the Namdroling Monastery, which is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. You can witness the monks chanting and performing their daily rituals. Return to your hotel for your final night in Coorg.
