5-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

  2. Day 2: Chorabari Tal (Gandhi Sarovar)

    1 hour 30 minutes (4.5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, hike to Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar because Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were sprinkled here. The lake is nestled amidst mountains and offers a peaceful spot for meditation. Afternoon, visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bhairon Temple. Evening, enjoy a hot cup of tea at a local tea shop.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag
    Located in Rudraprayag district

    In the morning, take a short drive to Sonprayag, a scenic town located at the confluence of the Mandakini and Basuki rivers. You can take a dip in the holy waters of the Mandakini river here. Afternoon, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, the spot where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married according to Hindu mythology. Evening, relax and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains.

  4. Day 4: Tungnath and Chandrashila
    Located in Rudraprayag district

    In the morning, hike to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trek is a bit challenging, but the views are worth the effort. Afternoon, hike further up to Chandrashila, a peak at an altitude of 4,000m. The summit offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Dome, and Chaukhamba. Evening, relax and enjoy the serene environment.

  5. Day 5: Deoria Tal
    Located in Rudraprayag district
    2 hours 30 minutes (72.3 km) from Tungnath

    In the morning, drive to Deoria Tal, a beautiful lake situated at an altitude of 2,438m. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and offers stunning reflections of the Chaukhamba peaks. Afternoon, visit the Ukhimath Temple, a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Evening, return to Kedarnath and spend some time at the Kedarnath helipad before departing.
