4-Day Itinerary for Gokarna in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Om Beach
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Gokarna town

    In the morning, visit the beautiful Om Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Gokarna. Take a dip in the sea or simply relax on the sandy shores. For a stunning view of the beach, hike up to the hill nearby. In the afternoon, head to Mahabaleshwara Temple, a 4th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the evening, enjoy a breathtaking sunset at Kudle Beach and relish some local seafood.

  2. Day 2: Mirjan Fort and Vibhuti Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (38 km) from Om Beach

    In the morning, visit the ancient Mirjan Fort, a 16th-century fort that was once a major center of trade and commerce. In the afternoon, hike to the stunning Vibhuti Falls, nestled in the lush green forests of Western Ghats. Take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the falls. In the evening, head back to Om Beach for some beachside fun.

  3. Day 3: Half Moon Beach and Mahalasa Temple
    15 minutes (5 km) from Om Beach

    In the morning, take a boat ride to Half Moon Beach, a secluded and pristine beach surrounded by rocky hills. Spend some time soaking in the sun or take a leisurely walk around the beach. In the afternoon, visit the Mahalasa Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In the evening, enjoy some local cuisine at any of the numerous beachside shacks.

  4. Day 4: Paradise Beach and Ganpati Temple
    30 minutes (12 km) from Om Beach

    In the morning, take a boat ride to Paradise Beach, a tranquil and serene beach accessible only by boat. Take a dip in the crystal-clear waters or simply lounge on the soft sand. In the afternoon, visit the Ganpati Temple, a 400-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. In the evening, head back to Gokarna town for some souvenir shopping and a traditional dinner.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting Yana Caves, a unique geological formation that is around 1.5 hours from Gokarna. Also, if you're an adventure enthusiast, try out some water sports like surfing, banana boat rides, and parasailing at Om Beach. Don't forget to try the local delicacy, Gokarna Thali, a wholesome meal that includes rice, dal, vegetables, and chapatis.
