Three Days in Ajmer in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dargah Sharif
    5 minutes (0.3 miles) from Ajmer Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Dargah Sharif, a sufi shrine that contains the tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, one of the most revered sufi saints in the world. Take in the beautiful architecture and spiritual atmosphere of the shrine. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Ana Sagar Lake, where you can enjoy a picnic or take a boat ride. In the evening, visit the Akbari Fort and Museum, which houses a collection of Mughal and Rajput weaponry and artifacts.

  2. Day 2: Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra and Nasiyan Jain Temple
    10 minutes (2.5 miles) from Dargah Sharif

    Start your day at the Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra, a mosque that dates back to the 12th century. Marvel at the stunning architecture and intricate carvings. In the afternoon, visit the Nasiyan Jain Temple, which is also known as the Red Temple. Learn about the Jain religion and see the temple's famous wooden gold-painted wagon that depicts the Jain concept of the cycle of life. In the evening, head to the nearby Taragarh Fort to catch a beautiful sunset and enjoy panoramic views of Ajmer.

  3. Day 3: Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temple
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Nasiyan Jain Temple

    Start your day with a visit to Pushkar Lake, one of the most sacred lakes in India. Take a dip in the holy waters or simply enjoy the serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, visit the Brahma Temple, which is devoted to the Hindu god Brahma and is one of the few temples in the world to do so. Marvel at the temple's red spire and intricate carvings. In the evening, head to the nearby Pushkar Bazaar to pick up some souvenirs and enjoy the vibrant street food scene.

Recommendations:

If you have extra time, consider taking a side trip to the nearby city of Jaipur, which is known as the Pink City and is home to a number of stunning palaces and forts. Make sure to also check out the local cuisine, which includes dishes like dal-bati-churma and laal maans. Finally, be sure to take advantage of the local markets and bazaars, where you can find everything from jewelry to textiles to spices.
